Here for a sample of the recent works from this end of year 2010, in which I shot 183 bands that’s one every 2 days on average, in no particular order:
The recent highlight in my opinion was a great interview of Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead that I filmed backstage at the Brighton Center for The Quietus.

Another of the big highlights was going on tour across Europe with the Californian girls of the band The Like to document the tour. The documentary hasn’t been broadcast yet and can’t be shown here at the moment but will be in my Videofolio as soon as it is!

Far less rock’n'roll, you probably all know this chap, or have heard him maybe too often, Gio Compario for a shoot to promote his Christmas single in the press, shot at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland Santa’s grotto.

To stay in the winter vibe, the promotional shots for the Natural History Museum ice rink, featuring an army of penguins.

The US band Mona, frequently tipped to be one of the bands to make it big in 2011, shot at Rough Trade East, published in the Guardian on the Christmas edition. Keep and eye (or an ear) on them.

October has also seen the great festival Oxjam in lots of Oxfam stores all across UK. The opening was made by The Charlatans and Diana Vickers, among other artists.

A great interview with American band Needtobreathe filmed at their headline show at the Borderline. Hopefully catch them again this summer at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park in company of Bon Jovi.

The very sweet presenter Zara Martin who I was shooting presenting the very crazy Sarenza high heels race in bricklane (a French race on high heels recruiting the UK team to meet the French one in Paris).

And another example with The Soldiers doing a charity performance to the press and interview at Pryors Bank in Putney.

On this entry a fair amount of video, as I worked a lot on this aspect lately. A selection of recent works with two very interesting interviews here. First was the interview of fashion designer and artist Hussein Chalayan at the opening of his exhibition at Lisson Gallery in London, interviewed by Greg Hilty, curatorial director of the gallery. The exhibition “I Am Sad Leyla (Üzgünüm Leyla)” is still running at the Lisson Gallery until the 2nd of October 2010.

Second interview was even more special as it was the Right Honourable Tony Benn MP, iconic British political figure of the left, interviewed by none else than Nicky Wire of the band Manic Street Preachers, a notoriously iconic pop rock band of the left too! As one can imagine a very interesting discussion follows.
This was set up with the brilliant music web zine The Quietus.

Among other recent works I covered Run DMC’s Rev Run party at Aqua Kyoto for the launch of his Foot Locker RUN NYC collection, with many personalities present including Mark Ronson, Keisha Buchanan, Shingai Shoniwa (Noisettes), Roisin Murphy, Paloma Faith, Amber Rose, Tim Westwood, Jamelia or Emily Atack.

And another unlikely meet last week when I ended up throwing the ball in the nets, taking my first lesson of cricket from the boys of Scouting For Girls while covering their game with England cricket team players Tim Bresnan and James “Jimmy” Anderson at Lord’s cricket field.

Yet another mix of styles, when serving British army soldiers become pop stars.
I photographed Warner Bros’ successful trio The Soldiers at the Royal Albert Hall a few months ago and joined them again recently for a charity giving at Twickenham’s Royal Military School of Music where they were giving a cheque to ‘Armed Forces Charities (ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, Help For Heroes, Royal British Legion) to celebrate the announcement that their second album ‘Letters Home’ will be released on 25 October.

And when a rock god meets a crowd of young alternative artists you get a juicy Halloween party.
Alice Cooper was in town choosing the lucky performers to join him on stage for his Halloween’s Night of Fears on October 31st at the Roundhouse. This very unusual casting was taking place at London Dungeon and featured a bunch of the best freaks trying to get the rockstar to faint from seeing them hammer nails in their nose, dance on broken glass or stick needles in their body!

A last word about an ongoing Burning Head project I’m co-producing with my good friend the talented Franck Trebillac, the new music video for Stretta on the label Clear Notice which is due to be released in the iPad application compilation Enter Calico soon. It looks great and I can’t wait to post it here when it will be released!

Also a brand new music video with has got a lot of fantastic feedback already. The Emancipation is the name of the track from Tricil chosen for our second music video with Burning Head, starring the talented Miss Maleficent Martini and we can now showcase it as it is broadcast to promote Enter Calico, the iPad application project produced by the label Clear Notice. The video has been entered into the Vimeo Festival + Award judged by the likes of David Lynch, Roman Coppola or Nicolas Schmerkin. Oh and last, like most photographers I always know all my publications when I receive my monthly statement, in my case from Getty, and at that time all the papers and magazine concerned are far form the newsagent so it’s always nice to hear from a friend who saw an image in a broad paper like yesterday’s Guardian with my shot of Lady Gaga, below.

So where are all these blog entries? Over a month of silence but a lot of things going on behind. I will just be brief and give a few highlights and images here but some more detailed news of anything to do with music photography can be found on my Loud Pixels BLOG here.

The freshest and biggest news this week is that Franck Trebillac and myself have the pleasure to announce that the Music Video of Born Dressed is finished and online for you to see!! We have received already a lot of great feedback and feel free to give you opinion on here. There should be a launch party soon, watch this space (or my Twitter account here). This was shot in part at the Brixton Dogstar, a really cool and stylish bar with the nicest staff. It is starring Roxy Velvet and of course Paul Gravity the man behind Born Dressed (and ex M.A.S.S. & Hey Gravity!). The BURNING HEAD website should be online soon and that will surely be an excuse for a new post.

End of April saw my exhibition at the Images En Scene festival at La Roche Posay in France where I presented 50 Digigraphie prints, alongside Francis Vernhet and Jacques Bisceglia to name a few, and a tribute exhibition of Alain Dister’s work. I appeared on French’s prime time news as you can see below. (Coincidentally I made an unrelated appearance on the BBC that very same week). The exhibition went very well and I thank Yves Lafosse, Didier Coupeau and really everyone in the team for their great work and welcome!

Another successful start-up in front of my lens, JogPost is an original new company in West London for the distribution of leaflets made by.. joggers! The result being a faster delivery, better paid employees that get healthier doing it, not bad at all I say, no surprise their phone keeps ringing all the time.

In music a few new shoots, I posted a “summary of previous episodes” on my Loudpixels Blog including Suede’s first show in years at the 100 Club, Tangerine Dream at the Royal Albert Hall and I would note a big night at the O2 Arena with some of the biggest legends of Soul and Motown, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Three Degrees and The Drifters. The following photo was taken by The Three Degrees’ manager in my failed attempt to join the band with Cynthia Garrison, Valerie Holiday and Helen Scott of Three Degrees  .

And last but not least the big exhibition in France approaches, the Images En Scène festival at the Photomusicales De La Roche Posay on April 23, 24 and 25 where I’ll be exhibiting 50 large prints from my Loud Pixels collection, live and portraits, from Nana Mouskouri to Rihanna, from The Rolling Stones to The Maccabees, thanks to the sponsors Rainbow Color in Paris and EPSON’s Digigraphie label.

The UK Folding Plug I photographed earlier this month have won the Brit Insurance Design Of The Year Award 2010, well done to Min-Kyu Choi and the team!

The Four Tops (shot last week) appeared in the main feature of The Times Arts&Ents last Friday, and the Sunday Times published one of my studio portraits of Marina And The Diamonds, nice double Times .

Music-photography-wise I covered the return of Craig David with his album launch at Scala last week, as well as a big sold-out show of Frightened Rabbit at KOKO which showed how fast these guys are growing, and finally Chris Rea supported by Paul Casey at the Hammersmith Apollo on Sunday night.

A lot of time spent trying another time to make a fresh install on my MacBook Pro, from an empty drive, reinstalling everything one by one, for those who tried they know that it’s a long journey in front of a screen! Working on new exciting opportunities as well as on the Music Video I mentioned before, we hope it will be launched by mid April! Oh and despite these last few enjoyable sunny days I have a cold, shame, how am I going to enjoy the taste of the Guinness tonight? Happy St Patrick’s day everyone.
